Hairdressing treatments during pregnancy
Hair colouring during pregnancy - Symptoms and course
The aesthetic appearance of a pregnant woman is important for her well-being. Well-groomed hair and the right hairstyle are among the elements of a good appearance. There is no need to abstain from hair care during pregnancy. It is a period in which hair becomes stronger, shinier and grows faster as a result of hormonal changes, which means that hair needs to be trimmed more often to maintain a healthy and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Due to high oestrogen levels, hair loss is also reduced. Unfortunately, during pregnancy, the reaction of hair to individual hair treatments cannot be predicted. Sometimes, the opposite effect is achieved. This applies in particular to perms and colouring. Most hair treatments can be carried out safely during pregnancy.
Penetration of chemicals through the scalp is so minimal that it does not endanger the health of the baby. Despite this, however, a certain amount of caution and moderation is necessary. You should always inform your hairdresser of your different condition.
When to go to the doctor and cure
If any worrying symptoms such as excessive itching of the skin, redness, rashes, etc. appear after hairdressing, a doctor should be consulted. These are most likely allergic reactions to the chemicals used during treatment.
