Sandblasting and scaling of teeth - Symptoms and course
The procedure uses a special powder (sodium bicarbonate) which, when pressurised with water, cleans all tooth surfaces of dark deposits and some discolouration, allowing it to reach hard-to-reach areas.
Such deposits can most commonly occur on the inner surfaces of the teeth and on the interdental surfaces, and can sometimes extend to the outer surfaces, especially of the lower teeth. Drinking coffee, tea, red wine and smoking contribute to the build-up of deposits. Sandblasting is a painless procedure that is in no way harmful to the teeth.
The duration of the treatment does not exceed 30 minutes. This treatment should be performed at least twice a year, particularly recommended for people wearing braces, where there is often a problem with proper oral hygiene.
