Teeth varnishing - Symptoms and course

The action of fluoride is to reduce the risk of tooth decay. Fluoride strengthens teeth, protects against plaque acids, inhibits the metabolism of bacteria in plaque and is even able to remineralise carious stains on the enamel. The most common method of applying fluoride in the dental practice is with a strong concentration.

Teeth varnishing - Treatment

Before the fluoride is applied, the teeth are cleaned with a special toothpaste and brush, and then the teeth are protected from saliva. A thin layer of fluoride is applied to each tooth with a brush. On the day of fluoridation, it is advisable not to brush your teeth in the evening, as the fluoride will remain on the tooth surface for up to several days after the treatment.
Other methods of flu oridation in the office include the application of solutions by rubbing them in or the use of gel caps.

This treatment is recommended for children every three months and for adults twice a year. Teeth varnishing is completely painless and can be an excellent opportunity to convince a child that a dental visit can be pleasant.

Carrying out the procedure is recommended:

  • in people at increased risk of caries,
  • after tartar removal,
  • after removal of orthodontic appliances,
  • in persons suffering from hypersensitivity of tooth necks.
