Anaemia (anaemia) is a decrease in haemoglobin, haematocrit and erythrocyte count in the blood from normal values (set for age and sex). Anaemia can be a manifestation of an ongoing disease state in the body, most often of inflammatory origin. Chronic disease anaemia is the second most common after iron deficiency anaemia. Its incidence increases with age.
