There are new reports in the media all the time - about a paedophile who was caught molesting a child in Mysłowice, about a released rape victim and about the problem of child sexual abuse by priests.

In order to fully present the problem, it is necessary to start with a definition.
Prof. Zbigniew Lew-Starowicz considers paedophilia to be a common paraphilia involving sexual gratification in contact with children.
Kazimierz Imieliński argues that paedophilia is a sexual deviation manifested by an inclination to sexual practices with children.

In studies on the involvement of the child in adult sexual activity, terms such as paedophilia are used in addition to the term:

- sexual aggression - action of the perpetrator (causing harm, causing injury) related to the sexual sphere

- sexual violence - in relation to a child, a non-accidental act of a sexual nature by a person aimed at causing harm to a child

- sexual exploitation, sexual abuse, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment - describe the same phenomenon in a similar way.

Thedefinition created by the Standing Committee on Sexually Abused Children states that "a sexually abused child is any individual of absolute protective age; if a sexually mature person, through a conscious act or neglect of his or her social responsibilities, allows a child to engage in any activity of a sexual nature with the intent to sexually gratify an adult."
