The diagnosis of pregnancy is made on the basis of certain symptoms, including, but not limited to, the visualisation of the embryo in the uterine cavity and listening to heart function. Determining the progression of the pregnancy and the date of delivery is important in order to plan the care of the pregnant woman and baby appropriately.
