The organ of hearing is made up of three components - the ear, the auditory pathway and the hearing centres in the central nervous system. The ear and the cochlear part of the vestibular and cochlear nerve are the peripheral parts of the auditory organ. The auricle and the external auditory canal are the components that make up the external ear.[1]
