Cow's milk protein allergy

Abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea.... Do you suffer from these symptoms due to lactose intolerance? It is worth knowing that another disease may be responsible for this problem: coeliac disease, of which up to 95% of sufferers are unaware! Take comprehensive care of your intestines and carry out one test that will rid you of unpleasant symptoms.

The symptoms of both intolerances are usually similar

Gastrointestinal problems may occur, including abdominal pain, diarrhoea, flatulence, constipation, gas or vomiting. Furthermore, symptoms of both intolerances also include bone pain, osteoporosis, chronic fatigue, loss of concentration, nervousness, skin problems (including eczema), asthma and much more.

Lactose intolerance and coeliac disease often co-occur

First and foremost, they both originate in the gut, known as the 'second brain' of the human being. An imbalance of the gut causes problems throughout the body and prevents the gut from working properly. A healthy gut therefore means a better quality of life and improved health in every aspect. It is worth remembering that one in three Poles may have lactose intolerance, while only 5% of sufferers know about coeliac disease!

Coeliac disease - it can cause lactose intolerance

In many cases, it turns out that celiac disease is responsible for lactose intolerance! How is this possible? Coeliac disease - permanent gluten intolerance - is an abnormal reaction of the body to gluten. This ingredient has a toxic effect on the sufferer, causing the body to attack its own tissues.

The intestinal villi, or protuberances in the small intestine, are destroyed. Their role is to absorb substances from food and medication. Destroyed, they cannot absorb them, resulting in deficiencies. Among other things, a deficiency of the enzyme lactase, which is responsible for the digestion of lactose, may occur in the patient's body.

Healthy gut - take care of it - DNA test

With this test, you can find out in one go whether celiac disease and/or lactose intolerance may be responsible for your unpleasant symptoms. Why take the DNA test at the very beginning of your diagnosis instead of - perhaps unnecessarily - eliminating your favourite foods?

Such a test will allow you to find out if you have the genes responsible for coeliac disease and lactose intolerance. If it turns out that you do not have the genes responsible for permanent gluten intolerance, it will be ruled out.

Lactose intolerance can be reversible

If celiac disease is responsible for it and you eliminate gluten. This is because in this case we are dealing with secondary lactose intolerance - it stops when the causative agent is excluded. It may therefore not be necessary to eliminate dairy products, and your health will improve when you switch to a gluten-free diet. At the same time, you will avoid not only unpleasant ailments, but also the dangerous consequences of untreated celiac disease, such as depression or infertility.
