The sexuality of older people is a taboo subject. There is an assumption in our culture that children and older people do not have sexuality, and consequently there is little scientific data on the subject. The view that having sex at an older age is inappropriate may also be shared by those involved, and this fosters a situation in which such people do not review their beliefs, are remorseful when engaging in sexual activity, and do not seek professional help when encountering difficulties in this sphere.
