People who are deaf or hard of hearing use a language that is natural to them, namely sign language. It is a language for which we do not need the organ of hearing. Sign languages are perceived as visual-spatial languages that are acquired through natural acquisition by deaf children from their deaf parents. It is hard to believe nowadays, but until 1974 sign languages lacked a written version.
