Patient awareness is a very important part of the treatment process. An informed (and appropriately motivated) patient is keen to recover as quickly as possible - if only to leave a hospital with which he or she has rather bad associations. A positive attitude, according to scientific research, greatly speeds up the healing process and is often even essential for this, such as in the case of cancer. A realistic knowledge of one's illness is therefore a factor that definitely aids healing. But what if the patient is not aware of his or her disorder?
