Brain

After a traumatic event, a disturbance of narrative memory is observed. This prevents conscious recall or retrieval of facts. The event is remembered in sensory-emotional terms. Usually the memory is fragmented. The sense of time and details of context are distorted. People who have experienced this type of event are particularly susceptible to developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
