Neonatal acne is a common reason for parents to see a paediatrician. The lesions are benign, resolving without permanent sequelae, usually requiring only careful care, and in exceptional cases requiring medication. The paediatrician makes the diagnosis on the basis of an examination. The lesions, in the nature of pustules and papules, need to be differentiated from other acne-like lesions, which are also predominantly benign.
