Pituitary tumours - symptoms and treatment

Panthermedia

CT scan results

Tumours occurring within the pituitary gland are usually benign. The largest group of pituitary tumours includes adenomas, which are detectable on magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Symptoms are mainly from the visual organs, as well as in the endocrine system. There are also cases where a pituitary adenoma is detected without any accompanying symptoms. Treatment is mainly based on surgical intervention and radiotherapy when necessary.
