A major cause of mortality in pregnant women is cardiovascular disease, and among these, structural heart defects play an important role. Thanks to the development of paediatric cardiac surgery, the number of patients burdened with these defects who have reached childbearing age is increasing. In many of these patients, pregnancy and childbirth proceed without complications. For some, however, this period poses a particular risk.
