Complications of prematurity are undoubtedly a challenge of modern medicine. Whereas only a few decades ago newborns born before the planned due date had little chance of survival, today's drugs and equipment significantly improve the chances of the little ones. However, it is crucial to diagnose and treat serious complications of prematurity, such as respiratory distress syndrome or intraventricular haemorrhage, as soon as possible.
