Psoriasis is a chronic disease characterised by the appearance of coldness in the skin, with a particular focus on the hairy skin. In many cases, it is associated with significant stigma from those around it, despite the fact that it is not an infectious disease, but is due to a disruption of the cell cycle, which is shortened in psoriasis patients. The causes of psoriasis are thought to be genetic, but its pathophysiology is still not fully understood. A variety of topical agents are used to treat the lesions, which currently have a high level of safety.
