The environment of a woman's vagina is home to friendly lactic acid bacteria, whose products (lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, acidolin and others) provide the vagina with a healthy ecosystem, helping to maintain a normal, acidic pH. This, in turn, provides natural protection against the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria and fungi.
