Vaginosis, or bacterial vaginitis, is an infectious condition. Other names by which the disease is known are gardenella vaginalis and BV. This bacterial condition is caused by a proliferation of bacteria located in the vagina - found mainly in sexually active women, it is easy to treat. Untreated, it can result in infection of the uterus and even lead to infertility.
