HELLP syndrome is considered to be one of the extremely serious life-threatening conditions for patients. HELLP usually occurs in pregnant women, but can also be an obstetric complication or occur as a complication of pre-eclampsia. To date, doctors do not know what unequivocally favours the occurrence of HELLP - it is known, however, that failure to take prompt medical action, can result in the death of mother and child.
