Currently, breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer among women. Growth factor and oestrogen receptors determine the tight regulation of breast tumour growth. Oestrogen receptors are present in two-thirds of breast tumours, and endocrine therapy targeting these receptors is effective in a significant proportion of cases of tumours expressing both oestrogen and progesterone receptors.
