Alcohol - a brief intervention via the internet?

Alcohol addiction

Students who drink at risk often seek information and advice on the Internet. They prefer to avoid direct contact with a doctor or psychologist. Contacting a specialist online helps them to find out how risky their drinking is, while avoiding the fear of being judged. In the study conducted, motivational feedback was used, among other things, in contacting students. It consists of drawing the consulted person's attention to discrepancies between their health goals and their behaviour. The results indicate that this method is more effective when used individually. Through the use of e-mail, this method can be used to reach a large number of students by addressing information to specific individuals.
