Around 4 million UK citizens are dependent on alcohol, according to recent research. The government plans to make this problem a priority issue.

Until now, six times less resources have been spent on treating alcohol addicts than on treating drug addicts. Therefore, 6 out of 10 people with an alcohol problem were not getting professional help early enough.
