Headaches are the most common population problem, being also the most common reason for neurological consultations. From a clinical point of view, it is of great importance to correctly identify whether a given pain incident is a migraine episode or whether it is just pain mimicking a migraine. Specialists are assisted by a classification (ICHD-1), which provides diagnostic criteria on the basis of which migraine can be confirmed or ruled out by defining the condition as a migraine headache-mimicking pain.
