After peaking in the early 1990s, the prevalence of autism in the UK has stabilised.

The researchers suspect that the resulting impression of a stabilisation in the prevalence of autism, may be due to a contemporary deeper knowledge of the nature and course of the condition and the use of better methods of patient registration.
