A study by a team of researchers from the University of Washington has found that teenagers who binge drink, even occasionally, are at greater risk of obesity and hypertension in adulthood than their peers who did not drink during adolescence.

The study was conducted on a group of young people (aged 13-18) who drank alcohol between two and 10 times a month. Each person was re-tested when they reached the age of 24.
