Today is the 115th birthday of this prominent psychiatrist, neurologist and psychotherapist. The occasion will be marked by the opening of a museum in Vienna, Viktor Frankl's hometown, dedicated to the work and life of this remarkable humanist.

Viktor Frankl is best known as the founder of logotherapy - a therapeutic school emphasising the importance of spirituality and a sense of the meaning of life as key to mental wellbeing. Frankl described his experience of living in concentration camps in his book Man in Search of Meaning, which has been translated into 21 languages and sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. He worked at the University of Vienna and three universities in the United States (including Harvard). He died on 2 October 1997 in Vienna.
