Methotrexate is a drug frequently used in severe forms of psoriasis. The dose of the drug needed to achieve a satisfactory clinical effect can vary considerably in different psoriasis patients. More recently, it has been shown in clinical trials and animal models that caffeine consumption may reduce the efficacy of methotrexate treatment in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
