Can physical activity protect children from depression?

The ability of exercise to protect against depression is proven and well researched - in both adults and adolescents. Can we expect the same protective effect in children too? We don't know yet, although a study by researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (HTNNU) and HTNNU Social Research (both in Trondheim) suggests that children who are provided with moderate to intense physical exercise are less likely to develop symptoms of depression.
