Doing makeup

Every year, make-up trends change. What do stylists think will be a hit this coming Christmas?

Christmas make-up should not be very extravagant - the craziness can be left for New Year's Eve. Red lips and delicately emphasised eyes will dominate the Christmas make-up this year. More daring ladies can opt for smokey eyes in metallic colours, such as gold. In addition to classic red, darker shades, such as maroon, are also fashionable. Those who don't like these shades need not worry: Stylists point out that nude lips are also this season's hit, providing a counterbalance to red.

How do I do my make-up?

  1. Start with the eyes. Use a make-up base - this will help to avoid casting shadow.
  2. Use a pencil to line your upper lashes for a thicker look.
  3. Use a contrasting eye shadow shade, as a lighter shade of shadow in the corner of the eye makes it look bigger! Here's another trick.
  4. If you are a fan of eyeliner, you can apply eyeliner and draw a neat line. Apply your favourite mascara in the next step.

If you like to experiment, try using sticker-ready embellishments that you can stick around your eyes. Minillists of holly, glitter inserts are definitely an option for bolder ladies.
