Co-occurrence of migraine and depression

Headache

Depression increases the risk of migraine and migraine increases the risk of depression. Such a bidirectional relationship was not observed for depression and non-migraine headaches.
The co-occurrence of depression does not affect the incidence of migraine headaches.

The study involved 496 subjects with migraine, 151 with headaches of similar severity and 539 subjects without a history of headaches. Respondents aged 25-55 years.
