A study published in the July issue of Archives of Diseases in Childhood shows that complications of streptococcal infections in children can include not only dyskinesias, but also psychiatric disorders (including emotional labile, obsessions, compulsions, depression). In the study group, the most common complications were motor tics and chorea.

Study conducted on a group of 40 children (1.2-16 years) treated for streptococcal infections (single episode or recurrent infections) between 1999 and 2002.
