In recent years, there has been increasing talk of cord blood banking. It would be used to treat various cancers (mainly haematological), but it is also suspected that cord blood could even be used to treat heart attack, diabetes or multiple sclerosis. Before this material can be so widely used, however, relevant research is needed - one of the most recent reports comes from the United States and concerns the use of cord blood in the treatment of cerebral palsy.
