Stevens-Johnson syndrome and epidermal necrolysis are pathological conditions occurring in the course of a strong, severe drug reaction. They frequently lead to the death of the patient. The therapy used to treat people with these conditions is mainly supportive and the use of immunosuppressants seems to be extremely controversial, but there are isolated studies that may indicate their effect on reducing mortality.
