Pavel Jungwirth's team from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, in collaboration with other scientists from the Czech Republic and Germany, has described a hitherto unknown mechanism for the passive transport of peptides into cells without an intermediary. The easy transport of drugs directly into cells is one of the goals of the pharmaceutical industry.
