Diseases with keratinisation disorders are conditions with a genetic basis that have a different course and varying degrees of damage to the epidermal keratinisation process.

These diseases can be divided into follicular keratosis, fish scale with its variants and keratosis of the hands and feet. The causes of these conditions may be defects in cytocreatine proteins, which are the backbone of the cell, deficiencies in enzymes responsible for the formation of cross-links between proteins and for the correct metabolism of epidermal lipids, as well as defects in proteins produced by keratinocytes, which are the building blocks of the inner cell envelope.

Diagnosis of conditions associated with keratinisation disorders is based on histopathological examination of the epidermis together with electron microscopy. The undertaking of treatment depends on the type of condition and the progression of the skin lesions, but the general treatment is based on the use of vitamin A acid derivatives. [1]
