The panic caused by the coronavirus caused hand disinfectants to disappear from pharmacy and shop shelves in a flash. However, it is possible to make such a disinfectant product yourself.
There are many recipes on the Internet for making hand disinfectant yourself. Here are some of them.
- Antibacterial gel
To prepare the gel we will need:
- 95% spirit,
- aloe vera juice or gel,
- essential oil,
- optional: vitamins A + E in capsule and/or glycerine.
- Spirit-based lotion
To obtain one litre of liquid you need:
- 833 ml of 96% alcohol,
- 110 ml distilled or boiled water,
- 42 ml of hydrogen peroxide 3%,
- 15 ml of 98% glycerine.
Pour all ingredients into a glass or plastic bottle. Screw it on tightly to prevent the alcohol from evaporating. Then stir gently and set aside for three days.
- Salicylic spirit-based mixture
Products needed to make the liquid:
- 150 ml salicylic spirit,
- 10 drops of oil with disinfectant properties (e.g. lemon, thyme, juniper),
- 10 drops of aloe vera extract.
- Simple disinfectant
- 200 ml aloe vera gel,
- 2 tablespoons of spirit or amol,
- teaspoon of moisturising glycerine,
- 30 drops of lavender oil (anti-inflammatory effect),
- 5 drops of vitamin E (it is a strong antioxidant and can be used to fix the consistency of the other ingredients).
- Disinfectant fluid
- ethyl alcohol or isopropanol,
- glycerine,
- distilled water.
Pour 8.3 litres of ethanol or 7.5 litres of isopropanol into a 10-litre jug. Then add to this 417 ml of three per cent hydrogen peroxide and 145 ml of glycerine. The container is topped up with distilled water.
- Disinfectant fluid (WHO formulation)
- 96% alcohol (spirit), 833 ml,
- hydrogen peroxide 3% (fights bacterial spores), 42 ml,
- glycerine 98%, 15 ml,
- water (distilled or cold boiled),
- 1 litre screw-top container.
- Homemade vinegar liquid for disinfection
To make a vinegar-based disinfectant liquid (approximately 1 litre of preparation), prepare:
- 0.5 litres of vinegar,
- 400 ml water,
- 50 ml of hydrogen peroxide.
