Contrary to previous expectations, the results of the study did not support the hypothesis that second-generation antipsychotics enable patients with schizophrenia to derive greater benefits from vocational rehabilitation than classical drugs. However, taking second-generation drugs is associated with better cooperation, i.e. more conscientious participation in vocational rehabilitation.

a 9-month study, conducted on a group of 90 unemployed schizophrenia patients participating in a vocational rehabilitation programme. Participants were divided into 3 groups: (1) those taking olanzapine (N=39), (2) risperidone (N=27) or (3) classical antipsychotics (N=24). They underwent a monthly catamnestic assessment.
