Osteoporosis is a dangerous problem - it eventually promotes fractures, which, especially in older people, can result in long-term immobilisation and its dangerous consequences. Postmenopausal women, among others, are at increased risk - it has been suggested that in this case a deficiency of oestrogen may be responsible for the increased risk of osteoporosis. Researchers from Tokyo Medical and Dental University decided to take a closer look at this issue - the conclusions they reached could prove to be extremely important in the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis.
