Scabs in the nose - many people have experienced this problem. Most of the reasons for the appearance of these lesions are rather harmless, but serious diseases - even tumours - can lead to the appearance of scabs in the nose. But what can be the causes of nose scabs in general?
The tissues located in the nasal cavity - including the blood vessels present there - are very delicate, which makes it easy to damage them. When the continuity of a blood vessel is interrupted, blood starts to ooze out of it, and then - due to clotting processes, among other things - a clot and then a scab eventually appear. These appear in various parts of the body, and when a scab appears in the nose, it can be quite inconvenient and unpleasant for many people and lead to varying degrees of discomfort.
However, what can be the causes of scabs in the nose? Here, a wide variety of phenomena stand out. At the forefront are various disease entities - allergies can be mentioned here, but also the occurrence of herpes in the nasal cavity. The appearance of scabs in the nose can be promoted by various infections - this is especially true for people who blow their nose too much (this can damage the blood vessels in the nose).
There are situations where we ourselves are to blame for the development of scabs in the nose. This is the case, for example, with people who - colloquially speaking - pick their nose. The problem can also develop with overuse of nasal drops and in people who use various drugs (e.g. cocaine) in nasal form.
The above-mentioned conditions can generally be considered benign, but there is also the possibility that the cause of the nose scab is a very serious disease. Although rare, it is sometimes the case that lesions in the nasal cavity occur in connection with the development of a neoplastic lesion in this area of the body.
The presence of scabs in the nose - even if they appear periodically - does not necessarily indicate a serious disease. However, if you have been struggling with this problem for a longer period of time, it would be advisable to consult your doctor - the doctor will then be able to rule out the fact that the cause of scabs in the nose is a health-threatening disease.
