12.the 08th birthday was celebrated by Martin Seligman, psychologist, researcher, psychotherapist. His research interests were initially related to psychopathology, focusing on depression. Based on numerous studies, he developed the theory of learned helplessness, assuming that the inability to influence aversive external circumstances is one of the factors leading to depression and withdrawal.
His many years of therapeutic work with patients led him to believe that reducing deficits alone is not sufficient to achieve a full life. What is needed for this is action towards growth, active development, targeting the positive aspects of life. This is how positive psychology, one of the most recent and rapidly developing trends, came into being. We wish you, Professor, many positive experiences and wonderful discoveries from which we can benefit. Happy Birthday!
