Gender and response to antidepressants

Panthermedia

Despite perceived differences in the course of depression in pharmacologically treated men and women, these do not appear to be in any way related to gender. Moreover, many of the personality traits that differentiate average men and women seem to be less pronounced in depressed patients. This observation seems to confirm the existence of a gender-independent personality type predisposing to depression.

A study of 139 men and 246 women with depression receiving outpatient pharmacological treatment (SSRI, SNRI, TLGCF, MAO, RIMA).
