The amount of alcohol consumed in Germany is increasing. This trend affects all social strata, regardless of income or education level.

According to the latest surveys, 44% of German 15-year-olds have a history of several alcohol-related impairment. Young people are most likely to reach for mass-produced sweet oranges mixed with alcohol. 11-12 year olds simply don't like strong drinks and therefore turn to sodas with percentages. These are mixtures of lemonade with vodka, rum or tequila. In theory, they are only available to adults, but young people get them without much effort.

In Germany, a project is currently being considered to subject sweet alcoholic drinks to high taxes, as is the case in Switzerland.
