The German Association of Physicians in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry reports that between 5 and 6% of children and adolescents in Germany suffer from mental disorders. It is estimated that between 800,000 and 960,000 young people (up to 18 years of age) require ongoing psychiatric care. Another 15-20% need at least a consultation with a psychiatrist.
