Psychotherapy for men

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is a form of 8-week course for depressive patients and combines the practice of meditation with cognitive therapy. In studies of the efficacy and acceptability of this method in the treatment of patients with depressive and anxiety symptoms, the method has been shown to be applicable to patients and beneficial in the majority of patients. A statistically significant reduction in the severity of depressive symptoms and anxiety was shown. 72% of patients improved on their Beck Depression Scale (BDI) scores and 63% improved on their Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) scores. Being in a group of people proved to be a healing factor and was rated as a valuable experience. More than half of the patients were still using the techniques learned from the course three months after the course.
