Preterm birth is considered to be one of the main complications of twin pregnancy. This problem adversely affects the foetus in a number of different ways, so doctors are still looking for methods to reduce the risk of it occurring. One of the options used is the administration of vaginal progesterone preparations to patients - an assessment of the effectiveness of such therapy was undertaken in a recent meta-analysis. The results are quite promising.
