Pittsburgh researchers say that in children, recurrent abdominal pain is often due to experienced anxiety or depression and is often a symptom of a psychiatric disorder. Of the 42 children they studied with recurrent abdominal pain, 33 were diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and 18 with a depressive disorder.
