Report of first pregnancy after ovarian tissue transplantation.

06-08-2004,
A case of the first pregnancy conceived after transplantation of frozen ovarian tissue was presented at the 20th Conference of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. a 32-year-old woman underwent ovarian removal in 1997 before treatment for advanced malignant granulomatosis (ovarian tissue was frozen).
After successful chemotherapy in April 2003, the frozen ovarian tissue was reimplanted and 4 months later (after 6 years of menopause) the woman started menstruating and became pregnant in January this year. She is expecting a baby girl in October. This case gives hope to many women who have to undergo treatment resulting in sterilisation due to cancer.
