Compulsive sexual behaviour - in the form of impulsive sexual intercourse, for example - can significantly impede an individual's ability to function on a day-to-day basis. The mechanism by which this disorder occurs is unclear, and as a result, researchers are undertaking studies to understand the roots of the problem. Amongst these, experts from centres in Sweden, Russia and Switzerland have reported, following analysis, that certain genetic changes affecting oxytocin secretion may be associated with compulsive sexual behaviour.
