A large study conducted in Denmark and published in the May issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry shows that those families with schizophrenia are no better genetically protected against cancer than families without schizophrenia.

The study was based on data from a group of nearly 2 million parents of children born after 1935 (data were from the Danish Central Population Registry) and from data from nearly 20,000 parents of children with schizophrenia (data from the Danish Psychiatric Central Register).
